Bio
Aldema
A. Ridge calls herself a Visionary Artist. Self-taught,
she considers her greatest influences to be the Folk
Arts of Baltimore, the Decorative Arts of the 19th
century, and the Renegade Craft Movement of today.
Aldema became fascinated with interior design when
she renovated a 19th century row home in Baltimore
City, Maryland. She learned about wainscoting, plaster
moldings, and the famous local art of screen painting.
To relax, she and a neighbor started creating one-of-a-kind
quilts. Their fascination was with the color, pattern,
and texture of the fabrics. Twenty-five years later,
Aldema is still making art quilts for the home.
Since
moving to Las Vegas, Aldema started creating Fabric
Collages. At first, she continued in a decorative
vein applying principles associated with Feng Shui
to cloth creations wrapped around wooden frames. And
then the Renegades got hold of her! Her
current fabric work has more edge to it.
